Wirral Branch Easter Monday Walk 21 April 2003

The walk, starting at Northop, took us via Mold and Buckley, concluding at Hawarden - total distance 11.3 miles. Including visitors, almost 20 ringers took part in this outing organised by Peter Robson of Thurstaston. Ringing ranged from call-changes to Suprise Major to accommodate the wide range of ringing skills. The morning weather was slightly damp with poor visibility spoiling what would otherwise have been splendid views. But the sun broke through in the afternoon, the only heavy shower being during ringing at Buckley. The day concluded with a conducted tour (courtesy of Greg Morris who also rings at Hawarden) round St Deiniol's Library, the gift of William Ewart Gladstone with later additions. A thoroughly enjoyable day, once the weather made up its mind. Thanks to Peter Robson for all his work in finding sometimes elusive footpaths.

Peter Hughes and Sue Sparling put in a strong finish.

St Matthew, Buckley. Proof that the weather had been kind during the afternoon.
