Some members of the local band are able to ring Surprise Major and Stedman Triples, provided there are sufficient visitors! More typically, these days, we are limited to Minor but this does include Cambridge Surprise.
At the present time our learners (commenced August 2002) are trebling to Doubles and Minor, indeed three of them have done so to Quarter Peals. See News Desk (October/November 2003); The arrival in recent weeks of our latest recruit means 'rounds and call changes' also feature in the practice.
Visitors from local towers are often to be found ringing on our practice night and some Sunday afternoons (usually Quarter Peals for 3.00 pm service), so it is advisable to contact the Tower Captain first in the case of the latter.
One of the most important details for any practice (except for which pub we go to afterwards!) is how to get in if you're a slacker and aren't there on time. In short, there are two doorbells by the vestry door at the foot of the tower. (See Picture Gallery which includes a picture of the tower with the Vestry door clearly shown.) Press the top buzzer and we'll come down and let you in! - but if we are ringing a Quarter Peal, we will not hear you as the buzzer will have been disabled.
