NINETEENTH CENTURY TOWER
Description and detail kindly supplied by Martin Amlôt

The 'early tower' shown above is the tower of the second church on the site - 1820 to 1871 - replacing a Norman edifice, small and undistinguished and itself being replaced at the behest of the parishioners when it was shown as clearly inadequate for its needs and beyond economical repair.

It is retained today as a monument and mount for the flagpole.

Go to Thurstaston's own website and follow the link to 'Our History' and at the bottom of that page you will see a picture of the old churches and a link to their history.
