Inscription detail above and the following information have been extracted from the Journal of the Lancashire and Cheshire Historical Society supplemented by detail from the plaque mentioned below.

The bells are contemporary with the present church building. However, there were three bells in the church located at Overchurch Hill (demolished in 1813) of which two had been sold while a reproduction of the remaining, defective bell was cast at this time. The church was then relocated in Greenbank, demolished in 1887, some 21 years after the opening of the present church. The reproduction bell, now located at the back of the present church, is believed never to have been used.
