RECORD LENGTH UXBRIDGE S MAJOR

Last updated 20 September 2004

The record length (10,080 changes) of Uxbridge Surprise Major was rung at Christ Church, Port Sunlight on Saturday 22nd May to mark the Centenary of Christ Church and its bells. It is also the longest length in any method/s ever to be rung in a Wirral Branch tower.

See Campanophile for details.

A Peal Board was commissioned and was dedicated by Revd John Kingsley, Minister, at a service at Christ Church on 'Founder Remembered Sunday' (19th September) with the Conductor, Peter Hughes, and Sue and Geoff Sparling in attendance.

The opportunity to raise funds for the Christ Church, Port Sunlight, Handbells Refurbishment / Augmentation Project was taken through sponsorship of the ringers and by donations from the band, other ringers and church members. With over £300 raised, this will be more than sufficient to add a sharp or flat to the double octave. Thanks to all.
