West Kirby Refurbishment Project
The following report on the Refurbishment Project has been submitted to The Ringing World by Tony Power, tower correspondent at St Bridget's.

Following discussions, and a bout of fund raising, the bells of St Bridget West Kirby, Wirral will be out of action from February 4th. (Last ringing will be for Festal Evensong for the Patronal Festival on February 3rd).

Nicholson Engineering of Bridport will replace all pulleys, bearings, stays, sliders, running boards, clapper pins and bushes, as well as annealing or machining the clappers, quarter turning two of the bells, and removing cast-in staples. It is anticipated this work will take until mid March, and it is hoped to have the bells working again for Easter Sunday.

The cost of some £13,000 before VAT will be raised in the main by the ringers, who have so far collected (or had pledged) £7,533. Anyone who feels moved to offer support may send cheques payable to St Bridget's Bells Appeal, (or pay to Barclays 20-50-36 a/c no.70705713 if more convenient).

We look forward to welcoming many visitors, old and new, to a much enhanced ring during 2008. Practices will resume on Tuesdays, at 7:45 p.m., from March 25th except for the first Tuesday in April, May, June and July (due to other Church use).

An updated Report (April 08), by Eric Jones, is now recorded on this website.
